It’s been almost a year since 22 Scars was released, and so far I’ve garnered 10 positive Amazon reviews and over 70 Goodreads ratings. Small starts, but I’m pleased.
What I’m most pleased with is the people who’ve given me the confidence to continue. The people who tell me they enjoy what I’m doing, and that they want more. In particular, I’m awfully fond of this quote from Julie (currently the top review on Goodreads):
The writing style is raw and frank, and authentic. And I am literally dying to read anything else by this author.
As counterintuitive as it might be for someone who writes about chronic depression, this makes me happy. It encourages me. And it makes me want to keep going.
So I’m pleased to announce that I’ve officially broken ground (no pun intended) on a new literary project, tentatively entitled The Broken. I only have ideas and a few scraps of writing at the moment, but the project is building in my head, characters are revealing themselves, and—I hope—coming together in a powerful, emotional journey. I know how it begins, and I have a rough idea how it ends, and some of the events in between.
It’ll probably be a while before this project sees the light of day, as I’m simultaneously working on publishing the third book in my alter-ego’s fantasy series, The Redemption of Erâth, but as I continue I’ll be sure to update you all.
In the meantime, I’ll be posting a few original songs that I intend to be a part of the overall story of The Broken here and there; I’d love to know what you think!
