Dearest readers, I have a difficult announcement to make. Despite months of effort, I’ve made little to no progress on my second novel, The Broken. Not for lack of trying, but I’m struggling to learn my characters, find out what they’re doing, and how the world around them is affecting them. Remember that the story takes place over nearly thirty years of time, and it’s been a real struggle to remember what life was like in the 90s, vs. the 00s, or the 10s.
What this means is that I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to give it a break. I’m most definitely not abandoning the story, but at the moment I don’t feel I can give it the treatment it deserves. That being said, I’m not going to stop writing altogether; instead, I’ll be focusing my efforts on my alter-ego’s fantasy works, The Redemption of Erâth, and getting the fourth book in the series underway.
This also doesn’t mean I won’t be posting here; I will still try to write as often as I’m able – most likely about issues such as mental health and societal problems, and whatever else fits into the themes of my work in general. Of course, for more regular posts and general thoughts, check out http://www.satiswrites.com for my fantasy-based blog.
And of course, I appreciate all your patience as I work slowly on getting my sophomore novel out. 22 Scars was 12 years in the making, and I certainly don’t intend The Broken to be the same. I will return to it – hopefully sooner rather than later – but a change of pace right now is what I think I need. For all of you who enjoyed 22 Scars, don’t worry; I will finish The Broken. It just might be a little longer than I thought.
Thank you all so very much, and I look forward to bringing you something new soon!
